We've datamined some Shadowlands Pre-Patch hotfixes that have been applied to the live servers. Blizzard announced on the in-game login screen and Battle.net launcher that the maintenance for October 14th, or the release of the EU Shadowlands pre-patch, will take longer than usual. With less than a week for the 9.0 Pre-Patch, it is a good time to highlight that most sources of raw gold farming will be receiving quite a hit with Patch 9.0. An interesting spell was found for Death Knights in this weeks beta build, hidden in the uncategorized spells. Off Balance leaves Death Knights unable to benefit from Runeforge enchants such as Rune of Razorice for a short time after changing weapons, in order to restrict juggling multiple runeforge enchantments.NEW   Recently removed your weapon and are unable to benefit from Runeforge enchants.Continue reading »

A couple of beta builds ago, Blizzard changed how the new Diminishing Returns for secondary stats work in Shadowlands. The change increased when the new Diminishing Returns kick in, starting at 30% instead of 25%. On top of this change, a new penalty zone of 50% reduction was added. In Shadowlands, Area of Effect (AoE) Damage is seeing a change to its basic philosophy. Currently in Battle for Azeroth, players can pull huge numbers of mobs with AoE abilities that will do damage to all of them. The Relics of the Past system, intended to scale crafted items from 1-50 in the Shadowlands pre-patch, was also found to be a source of gold through vendor flipping. In this week's build, Blizzard has added the transmog ensembles for Battle for Azeroth's PvP Gladiator sets to the Shadowlands beta. These items allow players to acquire the looks from previous PvP season sets and are always added in the expansion after the set was launched. The ensembles for BFA PvP Sets are sold by Marshal Gabriel and Xander Silberman in Boralus and Mugambala respectively. In the latest Shadowlands build, an item referencing the Marvel villain character Thanos was added - The Malfunctioning Goliath Gauntlet, an item that when used, will instantly destroy half the critters within 40 yards of you. The item is a clear reference to the ending of the movie Avengers: Infinity War, where Thanos manages to attach all six Infinity Stones to the Infinity Gauntlet. The armor that you acquire from completing a Covenant Campaign now has 3 piece, 5 piece, and 8 piece set bonuses. These bonuses focus on out-of-combat regenerations, buffing your Signature primary ability, and increasing stats. In today's Shadowlands Development Update, Game Director Ion Hazzikostas answered a common player question regarding sockets - letting us know that sockets would continue to be random drop, but that players would be able to add a socket to items using a consumable, similar to the Gouged Eye of N'Zoth.
